On the edge of Winschoten, located in the municipality of Oldambt, is the Landgoed Winschoterzijl camper park. Here we offer a beautiful place in the middle of nature, where you can recover from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. For example, during an extended holiday, or when you are passing through, during the night.
It is not only a beautiful, natural place where we opened our campsite, but also a location that has a rich history. We would like to tell you more about this.
What history is there on the site of the camper park Landgoed Winschoterzijl?
The hamlet of Winschoterzijl is located in the picturesque landscape of the municipality of Oldambt, in the northeast of the Netherlands, on the border with the municipality of Bellingwolde. This enchanting village served as a fortress in the past and still has a lock that reminds of its lively past.
The history of Winschoterzijl begins at the confluence of the rivers Rensel and Pekel A. Here a lock was built to tame and regulate the water. to lead. These waterways were soon canalized and widened, leading to the region's prosperity. Not much later, a fortification was built, a brave fortification that had to protect the province of Groningen against enemy threats.
There is much more to tell about this beautiful part of East Groningen, which we like to do at this page or during your visit to our beautiful campsite.
